The activities aim to support the innovations in the field of sustainable urban mobility by promoting actions on touristic and private transportation and by acting simultaneously on improving logistics initiatives and distribution channels. (IR)

Fuel Cell Hybrid Electric Minibus

A hybrid electric vehicle based on batteries and fuel cell will be developed. A FC used as on board batteries charge in a Range Extender approach allows reducing weight and recharging time of batteries and, at the same time, to increase the autonomy with respect to the equivalent electric vehicle. Hybridization can reduce the life-cycle cost of fuel cell vehicles, increasing thus their growth option value. Their combination with other technologies creates better scenario for their market introduction.


Electric Urban Delivery Van

Electric freight vehicles are an appropriate means for small-scale freight transport over shorter distances in urban areas. Light commercial EV are particularly suitable in an urban distribution system, in which electric vehicles gather goods at logistic centers outside the city center from where they are bundled and distributed further to various destinations in inner urban areas. By this activity a new vehicle for the transport of goods within “last mile approach” will be developed. The main issues are related to:

  • Modularity of the technical solution (chassis, drive system and cabin);
  • High ratio between payload and total vehicle weight;
  • Presence of a mobile platform to facilitate the loading and unloading of goods and objects.

The activities includes studies and works for inter-modal platforms and the interconnection nodes of different modes of transport, with the objective of increasing the contribution of ‘low carbon’ transport modes to freight transport.



H2 Bicycle

Realization of an electric bike whose motor is fed by current produced by a PEM fuel cell

Ebiciclettalectrical stability for current produced by fuel cell is ensured by a Supercap battery, while required heat exchange is carried out by external air flow that laps the active devices. Excluding electric motor, most of the power system is housed into a suitably sized fiberglass trunk. H2 storage tank is housed into frame upright. Now performance test are running according to international standards.

In parallel with d imensioning of system electric/electronic components, mechanical project was performed.
